PUPPETS!!!

So much fun. These puppets are still a "Work in Progress", so keep an eye out for the next post!

We are building skills in Fine Arts and Applied Arts and Design and Technology (ADST), by making puppets for our Language Arts, Reader's Theater. Complex tasks often mean developing new skills, and students have really stepped up to the plate! This also helps me teach basic expectations regarding clean up, project management, and community sharing of ideas. A puppet unit is so much fun then just "telling the rules." Puppets will remain at school until our Reader's Theater unit is done. Reader's Theater, is where students practice reading leveled plays, and if they choose, they may use their puppet to be the reader, which takes some of the nervousness out of public speaking. It also allows for creative play, and the use of character voices if students wish.
