May to June Learning Goals

End-of-Year Learning Goals

Math – Fractions & Problem Solving

Curricular Competency: Develop and apply mental math strategies and logic to solve problems.

  • We’re continuing our work with fractions, factors, and multiples, while also building our confidence with open-ended problem-solving challenges.

PE – Obstacle Courses & Team Building

Curricular Competency: Develop and demonstrate safety, fair play, and leadership in physical activities.

  • Students will design and run obstacle course challenges using our outdoor play area—like a mini “Great Race.” It’s a fun way to practice teamwork and creative planning.

Language Arts & Social Studies – Country Writing Projects

Curricular Competency: Transform ideas and information to create original texts.

  • We are editing and proofreading our non-fiction writing about both real and imaginary countries we’ve researched and built this term.

Social Studies, Science & Applied Design – Climate & Trade

Curricular Competency: Make ethical decisions about applying science and technology to global issues.

  • We’ll continue exploring how climate change affects our country projects, and learn how global trade is influenced by things like tariffs, imports, and exports.

French – Vocabulary & Story Reading

Curricular Competency: Understand simple oral and written language in context.

  • We’ll keep building our vocabulary and practice reading short, simple stories together to build comprehension.

Computers & Spelling – Typing & Literacy Skills

Curricular Competency: Use technology to explore and present learning in a digital environment.

  • Students are continuing to improve their typing speed and accuracy, and using online tools to support their spelling and language skills.

Career Education – Goal Setting & Reflection

Curricular Competency: Recognize and evaluate personal growth in relation to educational and life goals.

  • We’ll reflect on the goals we set earlier this year and set fresh ones as we think ahead to next year’s learning journey.

Science – Seed Dispersal Engineering Challenge

Curricular Competency: Plan and conduct an inquiry to find solutions to a problem.

  • To finish the year, we’ll design and test seed models to see which can stay in the air the longest. It’s a creative challenge that brings together science, design, and fun!

Bonus: Garden to Table

Our classroom basil harvest is still going strong—we hope to fit in one more pasta-making session before summer!
