Due to recent RCMP press release, regarding sextortion and suicide of a local 12 year old boy, students will be making sure that they have awareness of online/telephone resources that they can reach out to for support if they need it. Online safety, and personal safety is part of Physical Health Education curricular competencies and content for Grade 6/7's. Students will explore links available at www.kidshelpphone.ca, and kidshealth.org and I have added a link to games and activities, as well as the homepage to my website, under the Health/Social Emotional tab. Students are also going to map out who the safe people they feel they can talk to in their community when they need support. Please talk with your student regarding online safety, and I encourage you to look at the resources with kidshelpphone together as a family.
