What were the environmental and land features that helped Mesopotamia become the "Cradle of Civilization? What features of a society commonly define a "Civilization" and do you agree or disagree with requirement of these features? What communication and mindset skills do you need to collaborate with others?
Students took these questions to the next level! Through discussion and hand's-on-learning, students collaborated and even begun developing their own alphabet and rudimentary language system! Some students have even taken the time to write dictionaries! Then in Math, we are learning about 3d nets, so students worked together to fold nets and to calculate the surface area and volume of these shapes. These structures were then added to our maps. I think the students could have worked another month on this project, adding more to the 3d aspect they were all so engaged! One more map will be added to this picture set, as students were absent.
