A Cherry Tree, Honey Bees, and Salad Dressing for You and ME!

Original post, June 2024: Thanks so much to Roanne Whitticase, and Warren Sunstrum for all their community support with our Farm-to-School BC grant. With the final funds in our account we were able to bring in local chef and farmer Warren Sunstrum, who not only taught us about raising honeybees, but also gave us some tips and tricks as we created our own salad dressing recipes. We also used the funds to purchase a hardy cherry tree which will provide ripe fruit in the summer for our local community members to snack on while visiting our playground.

During Warren and Roanne's visit they helped us plant a few extra plants for our garden, we harvested the lettuce from our in-class hydroponic tower, and using fresh ingredients from my farm Quirky Quail Gardens, students crafted their own unique salad dressing recipe. I never saw so many 11-13 years request MORE SALAD! We have invited Warren back in the Fall/Spring and we cannot wait to hear how his honeybee and farming journey continues. More pictures to follow.
